PVC coated fabrics and TPU materials are two materials widely used in outdoor equipment, industrial products, and everyday items.

TPU is an environmentally friendly material, free of plasticizers (such as phthalates) and harmful chemical additives, and only produces a small amount of white smoke and no pungent odor when burned. PVC coated fabrics require the addition of stabilizers and other additives during production, and release black smoke and toxic gases (such as hydrogen chloride) when burned, and may emit odors at room temperature.
TPU complies with international environmental standards (such as RoHS) and is recyclable; PVC, due to its chlorine content, easily produces dioxins and other pollutants when incinerated, and is difficult to decompose after landfilling, having a significant impact on the environment. Therefore, regions such as the European Union have gradually restricted the use of PVC in food packaging and children's products.

Medical and food packaging: its non-toxic properties meet the requirements for medical catheters and food-grade films.
Smart wearable devices: TPU's flexibility and anti-yellowing properties are suitable for making watch straps and flexible screen protectors.
TPU materials are approximately 1.5-2 times more expensive than PVC, mainly due to complex synthesis processes and high raw material costs. For example, for webbing of the same specifications, TPU products may be 30%-50% more expensive.
Use and Maintenance
Cleaning difficulty: The surface of PVC coated fabric is smooth, making stains easy to adhere to and difficult to remove; the microporous structure of TPU reduces stain penetration, and can be cleaned with water.
Service life: TPU has a service life of 5-8 years under normal use, while PVC coated fabric usually lasts 2-3 years and requires regular replacement.
PVC coated fabrics and TPU materials each have their advantages and disadvantages, and the choice should be based on specific needs. If environmental protection, durability, and high-end performance are desired, TPU is the better solution; if cost control and short-term functionality are prioritized, PVC coated fabric is more cost-effective. In the future, with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, TPU's market share may further expand.
