PVC tensile fabric is a material that has the flexibility of canvas and can withstand wind and rain for many years. Its essence is a high-performance composite material, composed of three layers:
High-strength base fabric layer: Usually woven from Polyester fibers, it provides the main tensile strength and structural stability of the material. The density of fibers and the weaving method directly affect the final strength.
Key protective layer: Firmly cover both sides of the base fabric with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic coating. This is the core guarantee for the membrane material to have weather resistance, water resistance and anti-fouling properties.
Top-grade protective outerwear: The outermost layer (especially the top surface) often adds functional surface layers, such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) or titanium dioxide (TiO2) coatings. This layer of "sun-protective clothing and raincoat" significantly enhances the performance of UV resistance (anti-aging and anti-fading), self-cleaning (rainwater washing away dust), stain resistance, mold resistance and fire resistance.
The characteristics of PVC tension membrane materials
Strength and lightness coexist: Its outstanding strength-to-weight ratio significantly reduces the amount of steel used in supporting structures and the cost of foundations, making it particularly suitable for large-span buildings.
Durable and reliable: The design life of high-quality PVC membrane materials is usually over 10 to 25 years. Its surface layer can effectively resist ultraviolet rays and prevent degradation.
Outstanding self-cleaning property: The PVDF surface layer endows the material with a "lotus leaf effect", allowing rainwater to wash away most of the surface dust, significantly reducing the frequency of later cleaning and maintenance costs.
Outstanding fire resistance: Complies with strict building codes (such as B1 grade flame retardant standards), is not easily ignited when exposed to fire, only melts and shrinks, enhancing safety.
Flexible design expressiveness: It offers a rich selection of colors and light transmittance (some light-transmitting membrane materials can introduce soft natural light), and can be heat-sealed and welded into complex curved surfaces, realizing architects' unrestrained creativity.
Economical and efficient: Compared with traditional building materials (such as glass and metal plates) or more advanced PTFE membrane materials, PVC membrane materials have significant advantages in material and installation costs, with outstanding cost performance.
Application scenarios
PVC Tensile Fabric is used in almost every corner of modern architecture and landscape:
Large-scale sports facilities: stadium grandstand canopies, swimming pool roofs, tennis court domes.
Transportation hubs: airport terminal building, railway platform, bus stop shelter, toll station.
Business and Leisure: Shopping center atriums, entrance canopies, outdoor restaurant awnings, playground facilities.
Public and Cultural: Exhibition Hall, Performing Arts Center, school all-weather playground, Landscape ornaments.
Industrial practicality: storage sheds, covers for sewage treatment plants, rain shelters for storage yards.
